I’m going to tell you a #story about #sitting

I will admit, I sit most of the time that I am writing this blog. You are probably sitting as you read it. Hopefully, however, you will stand up after reading a few paragraphs.

Traditionally, the solution to the problem of passive living has been exercise, however, perfectly planned, goal-oriented, encouraging and colorful training plans have not inspired the vast majority of society to exercise. More and more often, people feel that their time, skills, and interests are not enough to be inspired to even take part in physical activity. The true problem lies not in how many opportunities are offered to participate in physical activity or even the quality of the programs offered, but something larger, but then again not so large.

This blog will tell about our bodies’ daunting, but educational journey from the old days of hard physical labor to the present day passive environment that we live in. It is not just chance that our bodies are paying a price for the abundance of present day societal luxuries.

Some years ago, I was asked about my future plans. Without much of thinking I replied: “I want to make the world a better place where people don’t need to sit so much”. This spontaneous answer was the leading light to finish my PhD degree and forward to new business opportunities in health technology aiming at making life healthier - with less sitting. For my blog posts, I have used material from my book "Luomuliikunnan vallankumous" (engl. The revolution of everyday activity) (Fitra 2014).
